The Mrs. Jacket: Something Borrowed, Something Blue
Brought to you by Revelle Bridal, The Mrs. Jacket started with a desire to offer brides a fun and edgy touch to their wedding day.
A modern-day version of the traditional "something blue", The Mrs. Jacket is the perfect accessory to any wedding dress and is a wonderful way to celebrate your very first moments as The Mrs.
SOMETHING BORROWED
There are five denim jackets available to rent in different sizes and styles. You can rent The Mrs. Jacket for the weekend of your wedding and wear it as your “something borrowed”. You will be able to pick up the jacket a few days before your wedding and must return it a couple of days after your wedding day. If you are out of town, we are happy to ship it to you! We love being your “something borrowed” for your wedding day as The Mrs. Jacket gets passed from bride to bride. Each rental jacket is embellished right here in Ottawa.
SOMETHING BLUE
The Mrs. Jacket is a modern and fun touch to your engagement photos, bachelorette party, bridal shower or wedding day. A modern-day version of the traditional “something blue”, The Mrs. Jacket is the perfect accessory to any bridal outfit. You can purchase The Mrs. Jacket as a keepsake as your “something blue”. With the option to add your last name, wedding date or saying, customizing your Mrs. Jacket will be so memorable and unique.
DONATIONS
When we first started The Mrs. Jacket, we knew that we wanted to incorporate a charitable component because we wanted to give back to our community and help raise awareness for various social issues. There are so many charitable organizations that are close to our hearts so we plan is to select a different charity each year to direct our donations to.
This year, we have chosen to direct our donations to the Indigenous Residential School Survivors Society which is a provincial organization that provides essential services to Residential School Survivors, their families, and those dealing with Intergenerational traumas. As a business that is so focused on happiness and love, it’s always hard to talk about things that are not very happy. At the same time, we abbot stay silent on issues that are part of our world even if they don’t affect us directly no matter how heartbreaking those issues may be. Sadly, we cannot change what happened in the past at these Residential schools but in the present, we can vow to learn about and reflect on this troubling part of Canada’s history. Our donations to the IRSSS are only the beginning of our road to educating ourselves about the plight of Indigenous people in Canada.
NOTES
You will also find a note in the pocket of the denim jacket written by the bride who previously wore it. You then get to write a note and leave it in the pocket for the next bride!
