Avoid These 5 Wedding Dress Shopping Mistakes
THE JOURNEY:
Your dress shopping journey is one of the most special times of your life filled with love, family, friends, excitement and even nerves. Here at Revelle Bridal we always try to give our brides helpful tips to make their journey a little less stressful so they can really live in and enjoy their moment. Our bridal stylist Paula, who has been with us for about 2 years, and has previous experience in the wedding industry has come up with 5 common mistakes she shares with her brides to help them during this process.
1. NOT SETTING A BUDGET
Setting a budget is arguably one of the most important aspects of your wedding journey and you’ll want to figure this out prior to starting. When you don’t set a budget or haven’t put much research into the boutique you’re visiting, the costs can be overwhelming or hinder your entire experience.
Which is why here at Revelle Bridal we are completely transparent about our price ranges and timelines that could require additional rush fees if you start your journey late. Here at Revelle our designer collections range from $2050 - $8000, with the majority falling between $3000 - $4000.
2. TRYING ON TOO MANY GOWNS
This can seem a bit controversial, and when we say this we promise we aren’t trying to be mean or force a bride to buy (that is so not our style) What we mean by this is that a lot of brides hold off on saying yes to a gown they love due to the fear of missing out, when the reality is new gowns are always being released and trends are constantly changing. It is so important that you feel confident in what you love and follow your heart, when you know you know!
3. NOT DOING RESEARCH BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
It is so important to be prepared and have a general idea of what you feel confident in, your non-negotiables and overall style inspiration. Before visiting the shop for your first consultation we always direct brides to browse our Pinterest boards and our Client portal for inspiration. Now this can be a little difficult for some brides which is why we offer a pre consultation with a stylist to help guide you. By doing your research we will be able to spend the entire appointment dedicated to the styles that fit your vibe best and create a more positive experience. For all brides who book in with us, you get to see all of the styles we have in store and favorite your preferred styles for us stylists to pull for when you come in!
4. INVITING TOO MANY GUESTS TO YOUR APPOINTMENT
We say this pretty often on our socials and it’s only because we have seen brides have negative experiences during their appointment simply because they invited too many people with unsupportive opinions. Now, this doesn’t mean if you have a large friend group you shouldn’t bring them all, just make sure you are inviting people who are positive and people who are there to support you wholeheartedly!
5. NOT GIVING YOURSELF ENOUGH TIME
Starting as early as possible is also something we stress A LOT on our socials, that is because there are so many aspects to your dress journey that you may not know will occur and we want you to have as much time as possible for things such as, alterations, shipping timelines, finding/ ordering accessories and more. We recommend that you order your gown 10-12 months before your wedding date! The lead time varies by designer but since all our gowns are made to order they can take between 6 – 8 months to arrive.
